A few more additions to the Cabinet of Ministers are expected this week whilst it is likely to be reconstituted once President Ranil Wickremesinghe properly firms up with new political alliances, according to sources.
Speculation was rife that among the new candidates being considered as new Cabinet Ministers this week are S.B. Dissanayake, Nimal Lanza, Mahindananda Aluthgamage and UNP Chairman Vajira Abeywardena who secured the sole National List seat of the party following the vacancy created by Wickremesinghe’s ascension to Presidency.
New Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena and an 18-member Cabinet of Ministers took oaths before President Wickremesinghe on Friday. It was the same Cabinet which functioned prior to the proroguing of Parliament except Ali Sabry as the External Affairs Minister replacing Prof. G.L. Peiris.
