Coordinating Secretary to the AG State Counsel Nishara Jayaratne said that the Court of Appeal in its order on 7 July, while staying the arrest of the suspects, said there are no objections to proceeding with investigations into the scam and statements could be recorded from the suspects.
The Court of Appeal on 7 July, in an Interim Order stayed the operation of arrest warrants issued by the Colombo Fort Magistrate against Karunanayake, Aloysius and five others in connection with the issuance of Treasury bonds in March 2016.
The Interim Order was issued after considering Writ Petitions filed by the suspects in the CA and will be effective until the final determination of the case.
The CA however said the Order was not an obstacle to continue the ongoing investigations into the Central Bank bond scam.
