40 new COVID-19 cases; cumulative total reaches 1991

Sri Lanka recorded 40 new COVID-19 cases yesterday, all of whom were overseas returnees, with 29 returnees from India and 11 returnees from the USA testing positive. 

The latest numbers pushed the active COVID-19 cases to 432, and the cumulative confirmed cases to 1,991, of whom 1,548 have recovered and were discharged. 

The Health Promotion Bureau said 54 individuals are currently under investigation in hospitals. 

To date, Sri Lanka has recorded only 11 COVID-19 deaths.
