The third Annual National Youth Summit on Cyber Security, organised by CICRA Consultancies and the Daily FT, was held successfully yesterday at the BMICH.
It drew over 350 students from around the island and the summit taught them how to safely use social media, digital devices and financial tools. Most importantly, they were educated on cyber bullying, its effects and how to best deal with it. A CSR event staged by CICRA, the occasion drew a massive congregation of students from all across the island, with 100 schools invited.

Founder Dr. Sam Bowne, who has conducted demonstrations at DEF CON (USA and China) since 2007; APAC, Cellebrite, Israel Managing Director Arthur Veinstein; Sri Lanka CERTCC Information Security Engineer Dayalan Nagaratnam; Hatton National Bank Deputy General Manager Risk, Chief Risk Officer and Chief Information Security Officer Damitha Pallewatte; Ismapac Global IT Director Uditha Wijesundara; National Institute of Business Management Head of Computer Science Dr. Buddhima Subasinghe and CICRA Holdings Group Director and CEO Boshan Dayarathne and Group Executive Director Vasana Wickremasena addressed the students.
The Youth Summit kicked off what will be three consecutive events to create awareness on the crucial aspect of cyber security. Today a host of global and local experts will speak at the full-day summit which will take place at the Cinnamon Grand followed by the Night Hack and a networking session. Tomorrow the CEO’s Forum will be held at the same venue at 6.30 p.m.
