265 companies providing 6,900 jobs to be given better infrastructure with a Rs. 305 m budget
Cabinet approved Rs.305.5 million in funds over the next two years to rehabilitate and upgrade 18 small and medium industrial estates.
On a Cabinet paper submitted by Traditional Industries and Small Enterprise Development Minister Douglas Devananda, details were given of 265 small and medium industrial firms that are operating in these estates.
Over 6,900 people are estimated to be employed by these companies.
“The project components include the renovation of internal road networks, peripheral security fencing, water supply and sewage improvements, internal street lighting, fire protection systems and worker welfare facilities,” the paper added.
