Union Bank starts free advisory services to SMEs

As a preferred bank for the Small & Medium Enterprise and Retail sectors, Union Bank of Colombo PLC (UBC) continues to develop and innovate its comprehensive product portfolio and services to the SME and retail customer segments. With the objective of adding value to the services offered to the SME sector the bank recently launched free advisory services for entrepreneur development.

 The first programme was held in Kurunegala with the participation of existing and potential SME customers from the area. Coordinated by the Kurunegala branch of  UBC the programme themed “Entrepreneurship Development” consisted a training schedule on enhancing knowledge and skill level of the participants on business conduct, handling challenges in a competitive environment and change management.

Geeth Rajapaksha, National Trainer and District Coordinator for National Productivity Secretariat facilitated the programme under the area “Personal Productivity for  Entrepreneurs” whilst Nissanka Rajapakse, Senior Manager, Audit of Union Bank, conducted a session on Internal Controls.   

Union Bank’s focus on the SME sector which provides the bank an edge in a competitive market as a bank small enough to be flexible to the growing needs of the SME customer and large enough to fuel their success to greater heights and offers a comprehensive product portfolio to support the growth of the sector.
