Sri Lanka Insurance (SLI) and the Department of Motor Traffic (DMT), two prestigious government entities have join hands to provide essential insurance services at the DMT premises with the opening of the Sri Lanka Insurance DMT branch in Werahera yesterday.

Via this new branch inaugurated by Chairman Sri Lanka Insurance, Gamini Senarath and the Commissioner of Motor Traffic, B. D. L. Dharmapriya, customers now have access to a range of motor insurance services offered by Sri Lanka Insurance at the DMT branch, in addition to obtaining the newly introduced learner driver cover.
The Learner Driver cover was introduced to service over 2000 learner drivers who visit the premises daily. The learner driver insurance covers any third party risks for property and bodily injury and personal accident covers for the insured and inspector.
Sri Lanka Insurance claims the position of the largest and strongest composite insurance provider in Sri Lanka, with a managed asset base that stands at Rs. 88 billion, over Rs. 6 billion in capital and a Life fund of approximately Rs. 50 billion. SLI is backed with very strong re-insurance arrangements, a highly experienced technical knowledge base and the widest network across the country. Sri Lanka Insurance is the only insurer to be rated AAA by RAM Ratings for its long term claims paying ability, and is the first
insurer to be assigned a global rating AA-(lake) by the Fitch Ratings London. The company has also been awarded ISO 9001:2008 certification for correct governing and operational procedures in line with accepted global standards. At the recently concluded World Finance Awards held in London, Sri Lanka Insurance was awarded “The Insurance Company of The Year 2010 in Sri Lanka” competing and winning against the best in the insurance industry in Sri Lanka.
