Sri Lanka Insurance Corp’s Nuwan wins Best Actuarial student award

Nuwan Wickramasinghe of Sri Lanka Insurance Corporation Limited was awarded the A. S. Mani Memorial Gold Award for the Best Actuarial Student of Sri Lanka for the year 2009 by the Sri Lanka Insurance Institute.

This is one of the most prestigious awards for outstanding performance in the field of Actuarial Studies in Sri Lanka. The selection criterion is based on the exceptional performance at the Actuarial examinations conducted by the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries in UK, which is considered as one of the most difficult professional exams in the world. The presentation was made at the recently concluded National Insurance Congress by Chairperson, Insurance Board Sri Lanka, Indrani Sugathadasa.



Nuwan joined Sri Lanka Insurance Corporation Limited as a Management Trainee in 2006, after graduating with a special Degree in Bachelor of Science offering Finance, Business and Computational Mathematics from University of Colombo in 2005.

He is presently attached to the Actuarial & Risk Management Services as an Actuarial Analyst where he is involved in product development, pricing, reserving and other special projects together with consultant Actuary.

He is also highly skilled in PROPHET programming, a specialist Actuarial software which is considered as the most sought after skill in the global actuarial field. In addition to that he has experience working in all areas of life policy and claims administration. It’s worth mentioning that this achievement is a result of sheer commitment, hard work and self determination demonstrated by Nuwan throughout his life.
