With the intent of spreading the messages of governance the Sri Lanka Institute of Directors (SLID) continued with its initiative in Ratnapura.
Having first addressed an audience of over a 100 participants in Kandy a couple of months back, SLID moved in to Ratnapuraa few weeks ago and presented the topic ‘Conducting Business Responsibly’which was jointly organised with the Sabaragamuwa Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Two well known personalities Indira Nanayakkara and Saman Rasaputhrain the legal andaccounting fields conducted the seminar at Nilani Lodge in Ratnapura to businessmen and entrepreneurs from diverse businesses, including gem merchants, tea factory owners, and other SMEs. The banks in the district were also well represented.
Nanayakkara, Head of the Dept of Commercial Law of the Faculty of Law at the University of Colombo addressed the topic ‘The Company as a Legal Entity and the Minimum Requirements to be complied with’ while Rasaputhra, Chief Financial Controller of Harischandra Mills PLC addressed the gathering on ‘Minimum Finance, Accounting and Tax Issues.’
With the success of this session, SLID intends to take its message on governance to the far reaches of the eastern coastal town of Trincomalee, and from there move on to the Northern territories as well in the near future.
