SLASSCOM (Sri Lanka Association of Software and Services Association) together with AAT (Association of Accounting Technicians of Sri Lanka) organised a seminar on ‘Positioning Sri Lanka as a Financial Services Hub with BPO and ITO’ at the AAT Auditorium recently.
The objective of the seminar was to enhance the awareness among AAT (SL) members on the opportunities available in the financial accounting outsourcing industry. The seminar was well attended and attracted a large number of AAT (SL) students and members.
SLASSCOM President Madu Ratnayake who is also the General Manager of Virtusa, Sri Lanka and Dushan Soza, Managing Director- WNS Global Services Ltd. addressed the student seminar. The AAT (SL) members and students were able to raise questions from the panel and an interactive session prevailed after the two speakers finished.
“Sri Lanka is in a unique position on financial services outsourcing with a vast pool of qualified accounting and finance professionals. With the rapid growth of the IT/BPO industry, accounting and finance professionals will have a new exciting avenue of employment” Madu Ratnayake said addressing the seminar.
At the event, SLASSCOM FutureCareers documentary was showcased on the exciting careers within the IT/ BPO industry. Dushan Soza addressing the student seminar gave an overview of global best practices and finance and accounting processes at WNS. In his presentation Soza also covered a case study and describing a transactional process end-to-end iterated the fitment of AAT students and members for such roles. ‘WNS offers many opportunities for AAT Students / Members and career tracks in the KPO/ BPO industry’, Dushan Soza said speaking at the seminar.
The Association of Accounting Technicians of Sri Lanka (AATSL) is a Professional Accountancy body, established in 1987, on the initiative of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka. AATSL is the only Professional Institute in the country, which conducts Accountancy Examinations at Technician Level.
