Seylan Bank’s International Department organised a seminar for its trade finance clients, for the second consecutive year, recently at the Cinnamon Lakeside.
The seminar was attended by more than 60 participants from various organisations engaged in international trade. Seylan Bank Chairman Eastman Narangoda and Seylan Bank General Manager/CEO Kapila Ariyaratne and members of the senior management also attended.
The objective of the seminar was to update the participants of the latest developments affecting the international trade transactions and to impart a better understanding of the basics in shipping and marine insurance.
The resource personnel were Anoma Ranasinghe, General Manager Documentation & Training- Mc Larens Shipping Ltd., Thanuj Edwards, Assistant General Manager Aviva NDB Insurance Plc and Sarath Kumarasiri, Assistant General Manager – International, Seylan Bank Plc.
The presentations were followed by a very interactive Q & A session on the recent devaluation of the rupee, and the challenges faced by the insurance & shipping industry. The participants were thereafter hosted for lunch. The seminar was well patronised and the participants highly appreciated the gesture of the bank in imparting the customers with valuable knowledge on current trends in international trade finance and related fields.
The Seylan Bank Trade Services Dept. plans to host similar seminars for the benefit of its outstation clients in the future.
