Seylan Bank will boldly redefine the concept of savings in October and literally ‘drop’ Rs. 1 million from the skies. Helicopters from Helitours will hover over different parts of Sri Lanka between 8.30 a.m. and 3.00 p.m. on Saturday 22 October and drop coupons with a special serial number and individualised barcode to an eager public below.
The areas to be covered are Ambalangoda, Anuradhapura, Piliyandala, Galle, Gampola, Gampaha, Kandy, Kalutara, Kiribathgoda, Kurunegala, Matale, Matara, Nawalapitiya, Nugegoda, Polonnaruwa, Moratuwa, Puttalam, Jaffna, and Wattala.
On the same day, over 3000 staffers from Seylan Bank’s 131 across Sri Lanka will embark on a door-to-door campaign distributing similar coupons, thus further promoting the savings habit among the general public. This tri-lingual promotion is aimed at inculcating the savings habit both in the short term and long term and is expected to touch a majority of the people from all walks of life, across all geographical and ethnic boundaries.
On Sunday 23 October a lucky draw will be held at 9.30 p.m. on ITN and the serial numbers of the 10 lucky persons, each winning Rs. 100,000 will be announced.
All winners will have to go to the nearest Seylan Bank branch and claim their prize with valid identification before 3.00 p.m. on or before Tuesday 25 October 2011.
Said Seylan Bank Chairman Eastman Narangoda, “We’re very excited about this promotion which is, in fact, quite revolutionary and one of a kind. In addition to all the hype and excitement it creates among the general public of Sri Lanka, it will also promote the importance of savings. We at Seylan Bank have always paid paramount importance to the savings habit, both among the young and the old. Savings of whatever form, will always come in good stead.”
“It is significant that the promotion takes place during the month of World Thrift Day which is observed on 31 October every year. This is a day devoted to the promotion of the savings habit all over the world. World Thrift Day is a universal reminder of the importance of consistently saving, in order to have a safety net. This promotion is, in fact, a precursor to a much bigger and even more revolutionary promotion which Seylan Bank will roll out before the end of this month,” he added.
