Sri Lanka Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake last week participated at the Islamic Finance News (IFN) Asia Forum, an annual event organised in Malaysia with the objective of offering an independent and impartial platform for the identification and resolution of specific issues, challenges and opportunities facing the industry through a high level discussion designed to determine the potential development of a particular country, sector or asset class.
The Finance Minister delivered the keynote address at the forum on ‘Advancing national ambitions and shaping the tomorrows of Islamic Finance’ on 11 April.
The Minister also attended the Special Sri Lanka Investment Session where discussions were focused on investment opportunities in Sri Lanka. On the sidelines of the forum, the Finance Minister also met Finance Minister of Malaysia YB Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani and discussed the proposed FTA and to explore new opportunity to increase the Malaysian investments in Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka’s High Commissioner in Malaysia A.J.M. Muzammil also attended the event and was associated at the meetings.
