PLF launches Islamic financial products in Eastern Province

People’s Leasing Finance recently launched Sharia Council-approved Islamic financial products in the Eastern Province.

The objective of the launch which included opening of a branch in Muttu was to introduce a range of interest-free financial solutions as per Islamic law to the people in the Eastern Province, where a large population of Muslims live. Branded as Al Safa, the products include leasing, deposits, higher purchases, etc.

At the ceremony People’s Bank and People’s Leasing Director D.J.D. Jayakody stated that the financial assistance given to the people of the area, especially the Muslim community was a highly commendable and successful one. He stated that People’s Leasing Finance had opened another branch in Kalmunai as well.

At the opening, a large number of tractors and three-wheelers that were bought under the leasing facility were given out ceremoniously to the new owners.
