In line with the Deyata Kirula program, with which the Government focuses on the economic development of the area, the newly built three-storied People’s Bank Ampara Regional Office was declared open by President Mahinda Rajapaksa recently.
With the opening of the new regional office, it is expected to strengthen development activities while providing convenient and efficient services to its customers in Ampara.
The regional office will carry out over-the-counter financial needs whilst catering to Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) where all loan requirements of the SME’s, active in agriculture, livestock, garments, fisheries, tourism and construction will be met.
Amongst the invitees present were Minister of Telecommunications and Information Technology Ranjith Siyambalapitiya, Senior Minister of Food Security P. Dayaratne, Minister of Local Government and Provincial Councils A.L.M. Athaullah, Governor of the Eastern Province Rear Admiral Mohan Wijewickrama, Chief Minister of the Eastern Province Najeeb Abdul Majeed, MP Rear Admiral Sarath Weerasekara, MP H.M.M. Harish, MP Sriyani Wijewickrama, Mayor of Ampara Indika Nalin, and other public and Government officials of the Ampara District, People’s Bank Chairman Gamini Senarath, People’s Bank Director Dr. D.J.D. Jayakodi, employees as well as members of the Bank’s corporate and executive management.
