People’s Bank People’s Leasing opens new branch in Tangalle

“Let us stand together to build our economy,” states the President at the opening.



“We now have the privilege to live in a free country and thus are obligated to build the country’s economy on our own. Let us stand together committed to reap the rich rewards of such a feat during this New Year,’’ remarked President Mahinda Rajpaksa.  

The President made these comments at a ceremony held in the wake of the opening of a four storey complex constructed to accommodate the branches of People’s Bank and People’s Leasing Company Ltd. respectively in Tangalle.

The President also stated, “I wish to congratulate People’s Bank and People’s Leasing Company Ltd. for building a complex of this magnitude. I believe that complexes of this nature will not merely benefit the town but the entire area. I send my gratitude to the Board of Directors and staff of People’s Bank whose efforts have ensured that the people celebrate all festivities of the New Year.”

“With the dawn of the New Year and at an important time where the country’s culture is highlighted we value the efforts of People’s Bank who have taken it upon themselves to work towards the benefit of the people. I would also like to say that People’s Bank has an integral part to play in shaping the country’s economy. You hold an important position in the workforce of this country,” the President went on to say.

“With this freedom we must be able to build an economy devoid of any imperial influence for all people to live in. As a nation, it is our duty to face every challenge and move forward. We always believe that the Government has a clear vision of identifying the needs of the country and the ability to act responsibly at all times. It is my earnest wish that People’s Bank may have the strength to obtain such a victory for the country this New Year.”

Following the inauguration of the new building, traditional transactions for the New Year were carried out under the patronage of the President. The deposits of customers were also accepted at this occasion.

Through the new branch, customers are offered convenient banking facilities equipped with the very latest technology and efficient service. 24-hour ATM facilities together with an array of leasing services are also provided.   

The opening ceremony was graced by the Minister of Disaster Management, Mahinda Amarweera, Senior Minister Piyasena Gamage, Chairman of People’s Bank & People’s Leasing Company Ltd., W. Karunajeewa, CEO/GM of People’s Bank, N. Vasantha Kumar, CEO of People’s Leasing Company Ltd, D.P. Kumarage and a large number of customers.
