In line with the Government’s objective of strengthening Sri Lanka’s vital SME (Small and Medium Enterprises) sector, the SME Development Unit of the People’s Bank organised two educational seminars under its much-popular ‘Viyawasayaka Udanaya’ (Entrepreneurial Glory) seminar series recently.
One seminar was conducted at the Grand Monarch, Thalawatugoda, whilst the other was held at the New Paradise Tourist Resort, Mawanella. People’s Bank’s Deputy General Manager (Commercial credit and SME) K.B. Rajapaksa, Assistant General Manager (SME) Wikarama Narayana, along with well-renowned speaker on human resource development Sanath Gamage and Inland Revenue Department Commissioner Bandula Haputanthri conducted sessions for small businesses, which was attended by a large number of entrepreneurs.
The goal of People’s Bank is to increase awareness of both customers as well as non-customers, on entrepreneurship, business planning, banking, accounting, financial management, business strategies and tax-related issues and thereby increase the financial literacy levels of Sri Lankan business community.
