Commemorating the world population reaching seven billion, a special ceremony was held recently at the Castle Street Maternity Hospital under the patronage of First Lady, Shiranthi Rajapaksa. On this occasion, a People’s Bank Isuru Udana account with an initial deposit of Rs. 50,000 was gifted by the First Lady to the new born baby girl of Danushika Perera of Kelaniya.
The occasion organised by United Nations Population Fund and Ministry of Health together with the Castle Street Maternity Hospital was also graced by Lene Christiansen, the Resident Representative of United Nations Population Fund, Dr. W.K Wickramasinghe, Director of Castle Street Maternity Hospital and T.A Ariyapala, Deputy General Manager of People’s Bank
