Marina on to DFCC Vardhana Bank Board

Top professional Marina Tharmaratnam has been appointed to the Board of DFCC Vardhana Bank as an Independent Non-Executive Direcor.

The appointment has received the approval of the Central Bank.

Tharmaratnam previously held senior managerial positions with Eagle Insurance, DFCC Bank and as the CEO and Director of Union Assurance Plc from 2003 to 2009 and continued to serve on ist Board until December 2010.

She is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka and a Member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing of UK.

Vardhana Bank also announced the retirement of S. Nagarajah who served the Board for nine years from August 2003.

Under the Banking Act, the tenure of a director of a licenced commercial bank cannot exceed nine years and Nagarajah did not offer himself for re-election at the DFCC Vardhana Bank’s AGM held on Friday.

Following the changes, the Board of Directors of DFCC Vardhana Bank Plc comprises J.M.S. Brito (Chairman), L.H.A.L. Silva (CEO/Executive Director), L.N.de.S. Wijeyeratne (Senior Director / Non Executive Independent), T. Dharmarajah (Non Executive Independent), A.N. Fonseka (Non Executive), R.S. Jayawardena (Non Executive Independent), R.A.P. Withana (Non Executive) and M.A. Tharmaratnam (Independent Non Executive).
