  • Chandana de Silva joins the Board
First Capital Holdings Plc has announced that Manjula Mathews has been appointed as the Executive Chairperson and Dinesh Schaffter as the Managing Director. The new appointments follow the retirement of Lalith de Mel as Chairman in August. Previously Manjula was Managing Director and Dinesh was the Executive Director. Manjula and Dinesh controlled Dunamis Capital holds 75% stake in First Capital Holdings Plc. Manjula has over 20 years of experience in General Management and Finance, both in Sri Lanka and overseas. She currently serves as Managing Director of Dunamis Capital PLC and is a Director of other Dunamis subsidiaries. She was formerly the Finance Director at Janashakthi Insurance PLC, one of the leading insurers in the country where she continues to hold a Non-Executive position. She is a Fellow Member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants of UK, and holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from the University of Cambridge UK. Dinesh counts over 20 years experience in the Financial Services and Manufacturing sectors. He currently serves as the Joint Managing Director of Dunamis Capital PLC, Managing Director of Kelsey Developments PLC, a subsidiary of Dunamis Capital PLC and as a Director of other Dunamis subsidiaries. Schaffter is an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (UK) and holds a Bachelor of Law - Honours Degree (LLB) from the United Kingdom. First Capital also announced the appointment of Chandana L. de Silva as a Non Executive Independent Director. De Silva has held several senior management positions including that of CFO for Level (3) Communications in Europe, a NASDAQ quoted company and Head of Financial Planning for British Telecommunications Plc. Since moving back to Sri Lanka in 2002 he has worked for MAS Holdings in a variety of roles and established the Supply Chain Management function, set up the MAS training centre and until December 2011 was the CEO of the MAS Investment Division. He continues to be a consultant to the MAS Group and is on the Board of Hemas Transportation Ltd. Hemas Power Plc, Eurkea Technologies Ltd, 24/7 Techies Ltd., and Sea-Change Partners Lanka Ltd He also serves as a Director of Dunamis Capital Plc, Kelsey Developments Plc and Premier Synthetic Leather Manufacturers Ltd. He is a Fellow Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales and in Sri Lanka and holds a Degree in Mathematics and Management from the University of London. The company recently announced that Dilshan Wirasekara was appointed as the CEO. With the latest changes, the Board of Directors of First Capital Holdings  Plc comprises Manjula Mathews (Executive Chairperson), Dinesh Schaffter (Managing Director), Nihara E. Rodrigo, A.D. Eardley I. Perera, Minette D.A. Perera, W. Nishan I.C. Fernando and Chandana L. de Silva.
