Commercial Leasing and Finance Limited yesterday filed a private plaint against a businessman who had allegedly issued dishonoured cheques to the company to the value of Rs. 318,500.
Accordingly, the Colombo Additional Magistrate issued summons on the respondent to appear before Court on 30 October.
Counsel Wasantha Batagoda appearing on behalf of the Commercial Leasing and Finance Limited submitted Court that the respondent issued dishonoured cheques to the value of Rs. 318,500 on or around 10-26 July, 2011 by violating the provisions under Debt Recovery Act No.2 of 1990. The private plaint had listed four witnesses to give evidence including the debt recovery officer of the leasing company.
Having considered the submissions the Additional Magistrate issued summons on the respondent through the Court registrar and fiscal.
