Respected financial powerhouse LB Finance arrived in Jaffna with a special token of friendship signalling that it intended to become an integral part of life in the northern peninsula.
The latest renovations to Jaffna’s iconic Subramaniam Park were unveiled by LB Finance in conjunction with the opening of the financial giant’s northernmost branch. The park was ceremoniously opened to the public by Ajith Nivard Cabraal, Governor of Central Bank and Dhammika Perera, Chairman of LB Finance.
A landmark etched in the hearts of Jaffna citizens, the Subramanium Park is centrally located in close proximity to the famous clock tower and the Jafffna Library.
Named in honour of Dr. P. Subramaniam, a popular Western medical practitioner and generous benefactor in Jaffna, Subramaniam Park had been in a state of neglect over the past few decades.
With this much-needed facelift beauty and tranquillity have returned to the Park as it once again assumes its rightful place as one of Jaffna’s most loved locations.
In this latest round of renovations, LB Finance has refurbished the park’s fountain which was once regarded as one of the park’s popular highlights. The financial giant will also be undertaking the maintenance of the park henceforth.
“The Subramaniam Park was once a vital feature of Jaffna town, a refreshing escape from the scorching heat of the north for the townspeople,” said Perera. “As we open our door in Jaffna, we don’t want to be just another finance company here. We want to be a trusted, integral member of the community, and this is simply our way of showing the people of Jaffna that we care and thanking them for welcoming us to Jaffna.”
