Lankaputhra Development Bank is implementing a special loan scheme with the aim of promoting computer literacy among local entrepreneurs, professionals and public sector employees. Laptops could be obtained under this loan scheme for them to gain computer literacy and IT knowledge. The scheme also serves as a boost for the Government’s program of promoting knowledge in information technology.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in this regards was signed recently at the Lankaputhra Development Bank. It was signed between the Lankaputhra Development Bank and Metropolitan Computers (Pvt) Ltd., providing for concessionary loans for entrepreneurs, professionals and public sector employees to purchase laptops. IT knowledge is considered essential towards enhancing productivity at Government institutions. A majority of parents lack financial capacity to purchase laptops outright and this scheme helps overcome this obstacle by providing an opportunity to them to purchase laptops on easy payment terms.
