Lankaputhra Development Bank opens for business in Trinco

In line with supporting the Nagenahira Navodaya development program, the eighth branch of Lankaputhra Development Bank was opened at No.02 Kandy Road, Trincomalee by the Deputy Minister of Economic Development Susantha Punchinilame.



Addressing the gathering, LDB Chairperson Kumudiniy Kulathunga stated that the main aim of opening a branch in Trincomalee is to directly support the development efforts of the East in the areas of tourism, fisheries, industries, livestock and agriculture. Kulatunga also said that customers who deposit money at the Lankaputhra Development Bank can be happy that they are contributing to the development efforts of the East.

Lankaputhra Development Bank is a fully fledged government Bank, opened to strengthen the local economy by supporting the entrepreneurs of the country. The bank has initiated many loan schemes to support the small and medium entrepreneurs in the country such as project loans, micro-finance loan schemes, ‘Sarusara’ (NCRCS), ‘Saubhagya’ loan scheme and the ‘Jayadiri’ special loan scheme. Apart from these loan schemes, the bank also offers ‘Shasthree’ Higher Education loan scheme, E-top computer loan scheme, ‘Laksaviya’ leasing facility and ‘Laksahana’ pawning facility. Several savings schemes including ‘Lakmuthu’ children’s savings are on offer for the younger generation with attractive rates of interest.

At present the bank has branches in Colombo, Hambantota, Polonnaruwa, Kegalle, Kandy, Wennappuwa and Batticaloa. The bank is planning to open a branch in Jaffna to cater to the needs of our valued customers in the region.
