Lankaputhra Development Bank commenced the New Year by launching the novel account ‘Laksetha’ for senior citizens. The account gives many benefits to valued senior citizens compared to the normal savings account. The Laksetha senior citizens savings account and Laksetha Senior Citizens Fixed Deposit account were launched on 1 January 2014 at the Nugegoda branch by the Chairperson of the Lankaputhra Development Bank Kumudiniy Kulatunga and General Manager/CEO Lasantha Amarasekera in the presence of the senior management of the bank and the customers.       Laksetha benefits Among the benefits of the Laksetha senior citizens savings account are vouchers for medical facilities from reputed hospitals based on the annual balance of the account as well as the provision of issuing free standing orders facilities to elders’ homes and reputed charitable organisations. The most valuable benefit is that holders of Laksetha senior citizens savings accounts and Laksetha senior citizens fixed deposits will get an additional interest rate compared to the other accounts and will receive the protection of the Government bank for their deposits. At present the aged population is increasing and they have sacrificed their experience and the knowledge for the development of the country which should be valued at all times. All senior citizens want to spend their retirement without being a burden to anyone.       Tribute to senior citizens As a State bank, Lankaputhra Development Bank decided to launch the Laksetha senior citizens savings account and the Laksetha Fixed Deposit account considering all the above factors as a tribute to senior citizens. The Lankaputhra Development Bank together with its eight branches caters to many customers through innovative banking products and provides many services which are a great success of the bank.
