Kelegama new Chairman at Singer Finance

Dr. Saman Kelegama has been appointed as the Chairman of Singer Finance Plc.

The move follows the resignation of Hemaka Amarasuriya in conformity with Central Bank directions which stipulates maximum serving period of nine years on a Board.

Singer Finance also announced H.A. Pieris too resigned under the same requirement.

Dr. Kelegama already serves on the Singer (Sri Lanka) Plc Board, Regnis (Lanka) Plc, SC Securities and Colombo Stock Exchange. He is also a member of the Management – Postgraduate Institute of Management (PIM).

He is the Executive Director of the Institute of Policy Studies, Fellow, National Academy of Sciences in Sri Lanka and former President of Sri Lanka Economic Association and author of several publications on the economy of Sri Lanka.

He holds a D.Phil (Economics from Oxford University, UK. Following the changes, the Board of Singer Finance Plc comprises of S. Kelegama (Chairman), R.S. Wijeweera (Director/CEO), J. Hyun, J.A. Setukavalar, M. Tharmaratnam, Gavin J Walker and J.C.Y. Kan (Alternate to G.L. walker).
