HSBC has appointed Kanchana G. Hewavitharana as Chief Financial Officer for HSBC Sri Lanka and Maldives and Michael J.F. Hung as Chief Risk Officer for HSBC Sri Lanka and Maldives.
Both Kanchana and Michael arrived to the country from overseas postings in HSBC Hong Kong and Vietnam, respectively.
Kanchana, who succeeds Fadhil Jiffry, began his career at HSBC in 2004 as a Management Accountant. Three years later he was appointment as a Consultant for HSBC in Vietnam. Following his overseas attachment, Kanchana joined HSBC’s regional office in Hong Kong and covered various roles in Finance.
Prior to taking up his current position, Kanchana served as Senior Asset and Liability and Capital Management Manager at HSBC’s regional office in Hong Kong, where he managed liquidity, funding risk and capital for the main regional sites including Hong Kong and India.
He holds a Master of Business Administration in Finance from the University of Southern Queensland, Australia. He is also an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (UK).
Michael succeeds Dimantha N. Seneviratne, who took up an overseas posting as Chief Risk Officer for HSBC in Thailand.
He joined HSBC as an International Manager in 1996 and has held various senior management roles in Personal Financial Services, Custody and Clearing, Credit Risk Management and Global Banking in Hong Kong, Indonesia, Taiwan, the US and UK.
Prior to taking up his current position, Michael was Head of HSBC’s Global Banking Business in Vietnam.
He is a qualified Chartered Accountant who has previously worked for KPMG in London. He holds a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Economics and Social Studies from the Victoria University of Manchester, UK.
