Insurance Association of Sri Lanka elects office bearers for 2013

The Insurance Association of Sri Lanka (IASL) concluded the election of office bearers at the 24th Annual General Meeting held on 20 March 2013 at the Cinnamon Grand Hotel in Colombo.

Formed in 1989, the IASL is the voice of the insurance industry representing the General (Non Life) and Long Term (Life) segments.  The Association is a catalyst for benchmarking performance, promoting uniform and sound practices and championing high ethical standards.  The IASL contributes to regulatory reform and policy formulation by interfacing with Government and promoting professional development and market awareness. Janashakthi Insurance Managing Director Prakash Schaffter, was elected as the President of IASL while Union Assurance Chief Executive Officer Dirk Pereira, commenced duties as the Vice President.

Sri Lanka Insurance Managing Director Mohan De Alwis, and Orient Insurance Chief Executive Officer Deepthi Lokuarachchi, were elected as Secretary and Treasurer of IASL respectively. In addition an Executive Council was also elected.
