HSBC’s Global Banking Head Anita Fung in town

Anita Fung, Group General Manager and Head of Global Banking & Markets for Asia-Pacific will be in Sri Lanka today on a two day official visit.  

She is also a Director of HSBC Bank (China) Company Limited.

During her first visit, she will meet with Nick Nicolaou, Chief Executive Officer, HSBC Sri Lanka and Maldives, senior management and staff of the Bank, key customers and government officials.  

 

Fung is responsible for Global Banking and Markets and Global Asset Management business across Asia. She has responsibility for over 7,000 Global Banking and Markets employees in 21 countries and territories.

Fung joined HSBC Treasury and Capital Markets as Head of Domestic Markets in 1996. She became Head of Trading for Asia-Pacific in 2001, overseeing trading and market risk management across HSBC’s operations in the region. She was Treasurer and Head of Global Markets Asia-Pacific in 2005 and was appointed a Group General Manager in 2008.

Over the years, Fung has secured HSBC’s leading position in the Global Markets business in Asia by successfully integrating the global product platform onto the regional franchise. She has an extensive reach among investors, issuers, market professionals and regulators. Through her various roles in industry bodies, she has helped guide the evolution of much of Hong Kong’s financial landscape as well as regional markets.

Fung is a Board Member of the Hong Kong Airport Authority. She is also a Member of the Finance Committee and the Funds Management Sub-Committee of the Hong Kong Housing Authority.

She was appointed as a Non-official Member of the Advisory Committee on Bond Market Development by The Financial Services and the Treasury Bureau in 2010. She is a Council Member of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council and Member of its Financial Services Advisory Committee.

Since 2005, Fung has been an Executive Board Member of the Treasury Markets Association and the chairperson of its Market Development Committee. She is a member of various professional associations and has served on a variety of public committees including the main committee of Hong Kong Foreign Exchange and Money Market Practices from 2002 to 2004.

Fung graduated from the University of Hong Kong with a major in Finance. She also received a Master of Applied Finance degree from Macquarie University of Sydney.
