Hatton National Bank opened the 221st Customer Centre in Serunuwara recently, which is the 21st HNB Customer Centre in the Eastern Province. This customer centre will act as the second Micro Banking Unit in the Eastern Region.
The Chief Guest for the occasion was A.P.L. Fernando – Assistant General Manager (Recoveries & Credit Quality Management) of Hatton National Bank and the Guest of Honour was Nandana Wijesinghe – Chairman of the Pradeshiya Sabhawa, Serunuwara.
A.V. Beadle, Senior Regional Manager Eastern Region of Hatton National Bank, also represented the bank at the event with a large number of senior bank officials, government officials, local businessmen and customers.
Speaking at the event Fernando said that the people of Serunuwara would have a comprehensive range of banking facilities offered to them by the bank. He added that the Serunuwara Customer Centre would be led by a manager who was an agriculture expert who would be assisted by a micro finance field officer, hence placing greater focus on microfinance, micro entrepreneurs, creating agriculture small bolder finance and rural economic development.
