HNB recently opened its 218th Customer Centre in Devinuwara with Deputy General Manager (Marketing and Retail Banking) Chandula Abeywickrema as the Chief Guest. Dishan Gunasekera, the Basnayake Nilame of the Devinuwara Sri Vishnu Devalaya participated as the guest of honour at this special occasion.
“The economic development, material development like roads, buildings, and infrastructure facilities are parts of development. But real development means people should be developed spiritually. We must create a society which would respect all human beings and their cultural values,” Abeywickrema said in his speech at the opening.
“People in Devinuwara are very honest and they have a very strong attachment to the Devinuwara Devalaya. Due to this reason they have spiritually gained friendliness, eagerness, and help each other with courage. These noble qualities of them are gained as a result of this religious environment,” he added.
“Spiritual development in the Devinuwara area should be spread out to the whole country.
The value of spiritual development should be spread to people of the country. It should be cultivated from Dondra Head to Point Pedro, across the entire country.
Also the cultural and psychological development should be developed and continued as a concept that have an impact on the human well-being and for the country. If the concept of spiritual development is propagated across the country we can fully utilise the effects of the development. Therefore, I would like to say that Hatton National Bank will come forward and take the lead role to promote this concept,” Abeywickrema said.
Basnayake Nilame in his speech said that the establishment of Hatton National Bank in Devinuwara would be a great privilege for the people of the area.
He further made a request from the bank to be a force behind the people in the area whose main livelihood is fishery and agriculture.
The Divisional Secretary, the Chairman of the Provincial Council, the HQI of Devinuwara Police, dignitaries of state and private sector, political stalwarts, Matara and Devinuwara business communities also participated at this event.
