The Government is to set up a consultancy firm under the Companies Act as part of the rapid push to bolster the country’s infrastructure development.
The move is following the fact that over the last 10 years local professionals, engineers in particular, have gained immense experience and in depth knowledge in design and construction supervision pertaining to the construction works of roads, water supply schemes, power supply, etc., by involving in mega infrastructure development projects launched by the Government. The setting up of a consultancy firm was approved by Cabinet last week on a proposal made by President Mahinda Rajapaksa in his capacity as the Minister of Finance and Planning.
