Furkan appointed to TFIL Board

IMRAN Furkan was recently appointed to the Board of Trade Finance & Investments Limited (TFIL) as an Independent Non Executive Director. Furkan will also serve as the Chairman of the Company’s Audit and Integrated Risk Management Committee while also being a member of the Remuneration Committee.

TFIL is a finance company licensed by the Central Bank of Sri Lanka. The principal lines of business in which the company engages in include finance, leasing, hire purchase, security loans, personal loans and acceptance of fixed deposits from the public.

Furkan is a Chartered Management Accountant by profession and also functions as a Consultant Economic Analyst. He is presently serving as the Chief Executive Officer of the Sri Lanka Press Institute. He is an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants of UK as well as an Associate Member of the Institute of Certified Management Accountants of Sri Lanka. He holds a Master of Business Administration Degree from Edith Cowan University of Australia.

Furkan was awarded the TOPCIMA (Case Study) – Sri Lanka Prize while pursuing the CIMA qualification. Based on his exceptional academic performance during his MBA, he was also invited to be a Member of the Edith Cowan University Honour Society. This Honour Society part of a Parent body which is the largest and most recognized Honour Society in the World comprising of many Chapters in Universities Worldwide.  

His work experience is an eclectic mix of various roles spanning over a decade in financial and management accounting, journalism, lecturing and mentorship and economic and industry research.
