Faizal Salieh joins HNB General Insurance Board

Faizal Salieh has been appointed as an Independent Non-executive Director of HNB General Insurance with effect from 22 September 2014. HNB General Insurance Ltd is a fully owned subsidiary of HNB Assurance PLC. Due to the implementation of new insurance regulations, the segregation of Life & General Insurance entities will take place in early January 2015 with the General Insurance business hitherto carried out by HNB Assurance PLC being transferred to the new entity.

Muhammad Ozman Faizal Salieh served as the Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director at Amana Bank PLC from 2011 to 2014. He served as a Non-Executive Director of Amana Takaful from 2004 to 2011. He has over 35 years of experience in conventional commercial and development banking, both in Sri Lanka and overseas. Salieh has held the position of Chief Operating Officer at National Development Bank and Executive Director and CEO at NDB Housing Bank. He has also held senior management positions in other leading multinational and local banks. He also held directorships in many Investment and Fund Management companies in Sri Lanka such as, NDBS Stockbrokers, CKN Fund Management and Eagle NDB Fund Management. He has also been a Director of C.W. Mackie & Co and in several other companies in the fields of banking, finance, and education. Salieh is a member of the Executive Committee of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce and a member of Sri Lanka Statutory Accounting Standards Committee of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka and also serves on the Boards of Distance Learning Centre and Sri Lanka Institute of Directors. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics with First Class Honours and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration. With the appointment of Salieh, the Board of Directors of HNB General Insurance Ltd will now comprise Dr. Ranee Jayamaha (Chairperson), Manjula de Silva (Managing Director), Jonathan Alles, Pratapkumar de Silva and Faizal Salieh. HNB General Insurance Ltd is a fully owned subsidiary of HNB Assurance PLC (HNBA) which is one of the fastest growing insurance companies in Sri Lanka with a network of 51 branches.
