Former top civil servant Dr. Prathap Ramanujam has been appointed to the Board of Senkadagala Finance Plc as an independent non-executive director with effect from 1 September 2012.
Dr. Ramanujam retired after 38 years of distinguished service in the public sector. He was the Permanent Secretary to several key Ministries including Tourism, Livestock Development and Estate Infrastrcuture, Civil Aviation and Urban Development during the last 14 years of his career in the public sector. He is currently the Chairman and CEO of Panasian power Plc, Chairman and Director of Manelwela Hydropower Ltd., and Padiyapelella Hydropower Ltd. He is also a director of Panasian Investments Ltd and a Director in Ceylon Agro Industries Ltd.
Dr. Ramanujam was the Chairman of Onally Holdings Plc and was also the Chairman of Waters Edge Ltd., appointed by the Supreme Court of Sri Lanka. He has served as a Director in the National Savings Bank, State Mortgage and Investment Bank, ITN and IDB.
He holds a first class B.Sc. (Hons) degree of the University of Peradeniya, M.Sc degree in Economics from the University of Bristol, UK and Ph.D in Economics from the Australian National University, Canberra, Australia.
Following the latest appointment, the Board of Directors of Senkadagala Finance Plc comprises of Lal De Alwis (Chairman), L. Balasuriya (Managing Director/CEO), A. Balasuriya, L. Fernando, W.A.T. Fernando and P. Ramanujam.
