CSE imparts investing knowledge through education

A four-part Investor Education Workshop conducted by the Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) – Kurunegala Branch is currently underway at the Branch premises. Participants from Kurunegala, Kandy, Kegalle and Anuradhapura districts attended the workshop.

The workshop titled ‘Aayojanayata Danuma’ covers the themes Introduction to Investing, Understanding Financial Statements, Stock Selection and Decision Making and Introduction to Unit Trusts.  



Wayamba University Business Studies and Finance Faculty Senior Lecturer Aminda Methsila Perera addressing the gathering said it was important that the Sri Lankan investors be educated and understand the fundamentals of investing before they begin their investment journey.

He further discussed the importance of getting the foundation right while also comprehending the risks and responsibilities of being an investor.   

Wayamba University Business Studies and Finance Faculty Lecturer Emil Sudath Kumara and CSE Kurunegala Branch Manager Thusitha Meegahakumbura were also resource personal that addressed the gathering.

The group of over 40 participants at the event said they welcome the effort made by the CSE to educate the general public on the basics of being an investor and saw it as a positive and encouraging sign.    

The workshop that commenced on 25 August will conclude on 15 September.
