A four-part Investor Education Workshop conducted by the Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) –Jaffna Branch in Vavuniya is currently underway at the Royal Garden Hotel, Vavuniya. The workshop saw an encouraging participation of 42 potential investors. This was the first time an educational workshop was organised by the CSE in the area.
The workshop titled ‘The Knowledge to Invest’ covers the themes Introduction to Investing, Understanding Financial Statements, Stock Selection and Decision Making and Introduction to Unit Trusts.
Senior Lecturer Department of Financial Management, University of Jaffna A. Subramaniam, Association of Charted Certified Accountants UK Kumanan Vettivel and CSE Jaffna Branch Manager M. Thileepan are the resource personal that are to address the gathering.
The group of participants at the event said they welcome the effort made by the CSE to educate the general public on the basics of being an investor and saw it as a positive and encouraging sign. The workshop that commenced on 15 September will conclude on 6 October 2012.
