Commercial Bank’s status as a leading service provider to the business community has been reiterated by the United Kingdom’s authoritative ‘Trade Finance’ magazine, which has adjudged the Bank the ‘Best Sri Lankan Trade Bank’ for 2012.
The prestigious award, the second major accolade received by the Commercial Bank in the past two months, is to be presented at the magazine’s 2012 Awards for Excellence gala in Hong Kong on 5 July.
This is the third occasion that Commercial Bank has been honoured with the Trade Finance Award since the introduction of an award for this category in 2009.
“An independently polled third-party assessment of this nature is particularly encouraging, and a fitting reward for all the hard work put in by our team,” said Commercial Bank Chief Operating Officer Jegan Durairatnam. “While affirming the bank’s pre-eminent position as a service provider to businesses in import and export, the award recognises that our dedication to this customer segment has been further strengthened.”
He said Commercial Bank’s decades of service to business, supported by its extensive network of branches, agents and correspondents in all key markets and global financial centres had enabled the Bank to secure the award for a third time.
Published by Euromoney PLC, London, Trade Finance magazine has been reviewing the global trade market since 1983. The magazine is a channel for the latest news and analysis covering trade services and supply chain, factoring, structured commodity finance and export as well as agency finance.
Commercial Bank is the largest private bank in Sri Lanka, and the only Sri Lankan bank listed in the world’s Top 1,000 Banks. It operates a network of 218 service points in Sri Lanka and a network of 520 ATMs, the single largest ATM network operated by a bank in the island.
Besides being adjudged ‘Best Bank in Sri Lanka’ for 14 consecutive years by ‘Global Finance’ Magazine, the Bank has won multiple awards as the country’s best bank from ‘The Banker,’ ‘FinanceAsia,’ ‘Euromoney’ and ‘Trade Finance’ magazines.
