Commercial Bank launches ‘Achiever’ current account

The Commercial Bank of Ceylon has introduced a new current account named ‘Achiever’ exclusively for young Sri Lankan entrepreneurs and executives to manage their financial transactions. Executives and entrepreneurs aged 18 to 35 who earn a monthly income of Rs. 50,000 or above are eligible to open ‘Achiever’ current accounts. An Achiever account holder is eligible for an overdraft facility equivalent to two months salary or income, up to a maximum of Rs. 300,000 as well as loan and lease facilities without guarantors at interest rates that will be one per cent lower than prevailing rates, the bank said. ‘Achiever’ account holders can also earn interest for the surplus funds in their accounts by opening linked money market or regular savings accounts and sweeping funds from their Achiever accounts to these accounts. The bank will waive the joining fee and the first year annual fee on credit cards and on internet banking and mobile banking facilities for every ‘Achiever’ account holder. A Branded cheque book, the option to receive monthly e-statements and a free ATM cum shopping debit card are also included in the list of benefits given to those who open these accounts. “Young executives and entrepreneurs are the ones who will shape and build the future of Sri Lanka,” Commercial Bank’s Deputy General Manager Personal Banking S. Renganathan said. “Supporting these future leaders with a facility of this nature is the duty of a financial institution of the calibre of Commercial Bank.” The bank said that Achiever accounts can be opened at any Commercial Bank branch island wide. Commercial Bank is the largest private bank in Sri Lanka, and the only Sri Lankan bank to be ranked among the world’s top 1000 banks for three consecutive years. The bank operates a network of 232 computer-linked service points and the country’s single largest ATM network of 576 terminals. The bank has been adjudged ‘Best Bank in Sri Lanka, for 15 consecutive years by ‘Global Finance’ Magazine and has won multiple awards as the country’s best bank from ‘The Banker’, ‘Finance Asia’, ‘Euromoney’, and ‘Trade Finance’ magazines.
