The Taxation Committee of the Institute of Certified Management Accountants of Sri Lanka (CMA) will be conducting its Budget seminar on ‘Budget Highlights 2016 – Tax Proposal & Impact on Business’ this year on Monday, 23 November, from 1:30 p.m.-5:30 p.m. at the Grand Crystal Ballroom, Hotel Taj Samudra.
The focus of the seminar will be to highlight the important aspects of the Budget 2016 covering the economy and taxation with special emphasis on corporate and personal taxation, VAT and miscellaneous taxes and the impact of new taxes on business and the economy.
The seminar will be inaugurated by the Chief Guest Minister of Finance Ravi Karunanayake and the welcome address will be delivered by CMA President Prof. Lakshman R. Watawala. CMA Taxation Committee Chairman and SJMS Associates Partner Basheer Ismail will address the gathering.
The Keynote address on ‘Highlights on Tax Proposals in Budget 2016’ will be delivered by Department of Inland Revenue Commissioner General Kalyani Dahanayake, while
Department of Inland Revenue Assistant Commissioner S.I. Asanthi will speak on ‘Taxation Proposals’, Central Bank of Sri Lanka Deputy Governor Dr. P. Nandalal Weerasinghe will speak on ‘Macroeconomic Implications of the Budget,’ and Gajma & Co. Senior Partner N.R. Gajendran will speak on ‘Critical Analysis of the Budget Proposals’.
The panel discussion will be held at the end of the presentations and will be moderated by
KPMG Principal – Tax & Regulatory Suresh Perera and the panellists are Ernst & Young Partner Duminda Hulangamuwa, Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA) Chairman Paddy Withana, Hatton National Bank Chief Operating Officer Dilshan Rodrigo, Associated Motorways Ltd. Managing Director Samantha Rajapaksa and Richard Peiris Plantation Sector CEO Sunil Pohliyadde.
