Ceylinco Life fetes 457 employees for long service

Life insurance leader Ceylinco Life has honoured 457 employees for loyalty at the company’s Long Service Awards, which are presented every five years. Plaques of appreciation and cash rewards were presented to employees in seven categories, for service periods ranging from 10 years to 23 years or more at this gala event held at the BMICH. The largest number of employees felicitated was in the 20 to 22 years group, which comprised of 107 recipients of long service awards. This was followed by 88 in the 15-17 years group and 79 in the 12-14 years category. Five directors of Ceylinco Life also received long service awards at the ceremony. “We have always subscribed to the view that loyal, long-serving employees are one of the biggest assets of the company,” Ceylinco Life’s Managing Director/CEO R. Renganathan said. “At a time when changing jobs frequently is becoming a trend, Ceylinco Life is proud to have such a large base of employees who have been in service for more than 10 years.” “This is particularly noteworthy in the context of the challenges the company has had to face in its 25 years of operation,” Renganathan said. “Our market leadership for the past nine years and our ability to overcome challenges is a tribute to the commitment and courage of our employees.” Ceylinco Life commenced operations on 14 January 1988 and was the first life insurer in Sri Lanka to surpass Rs. 10 billion in premium income in less than a year, ending 2012 with premium income of Rs 10.8 billion. The company’s share of the Life insurance market stood at 29% in December 2012, a full nine percentage points ahead of the country’s second largest life insurer.
