Ceylinco Insurance – General recognised and handsomely rewarded its dynamic and dedicated sales team, at the recently concluded Annual Sales Conference and Awards Ceremony 2011. The glittering event showcased the company’s outstanding talent, rewarding its top performers, who overcame all obstacles, in order to provide their customers with an unparalleled service throughout the year. The event was graced by the Central Bank Governor Ajith Nivaard Cabral as Chief Guest.
The event, held under the theme: ‘Realising Our Customer’s Dreams’ was attended by over 1,000 sales personnel, and senior members of the staff. Over 550 sales personnel received awards, accorded on rigorous rewards criteria: the top achievers were categorised as members, certificate members, and the bronze, silver and gold categories, rising to the very zenith, the much coveted Hall of Fame. Along with the rewards based on these categories, four new members were recognised and welcomed into the prestigious Hall of Fame.
Cabral commenting on the theme of the conference, in his key note address said, “For a person pursuing a dream, it is not a difficulty to realise that dream, if determined. It was a great deal of determination that saw the development of the ‘Mahinda Chinthanaya’ plan; today, we have realised most of the dreams that were envisioned in the ‘Mahinda Chinthanaya’.” He went on to add, “Even to usher in an era of peace, required abundant courage and determination. Our country needs courageous decision makers and exceptional teamwork to make things happen. Sri Lanka is moving towards making the dreams of its people a reality, sooner than later.” Ceylinco Insurance – General Managing Director and CEO Ajith Gunawardena in his speech, paid a glowing tribute to the staff for their gallant efforts, adding that the future of Ceylinco Insurance remained in the hands of its dedicated staff, who have always stood up to challenges, continually exceeding expectations. He said further that as a company that has always gone the extra mile to give an exceptional service to its customers, today the company stands strong, as Ceylinco Insurance – General leads the industry in almost every sphere. He went on to thank the shareholders for the confidence placed in the company and its management, as well as the Governor of the Central Bank, the Chairperson and the Insurance Board of Sri Lanka, the relevant authorities, re-insurers and re-insurance brokers, agents and brokers, and all loyal clients, without whose support and belief, Gunawardena claimed, “We could not have achieved what we have achieved.” He added: “I salute their loyalty and steadfastness.”
The Ceylinco Insurance – General team, recognised as the largest sales force in the industry, is renowned for its highly motivated dynamism, and is able to deliver an outstanding level of service to customers. The team is backed by the widest network of branches in the insurance industry in Sri Lanka, making them the industry’s most well equipped team. Meanwhile, in 2011, in keeping with the surge of economic activities, the company further expanded its branch network. In 2011, the overall premium income of the company stood at Rs.19.8 billion, to which the General Division contributed Rs.10 billion, while the company’s profits grew by 41%, recording a net profit of Rs.1.1 billion. The consolidated profit after tax meanwhile, stood at an impressive Rs.1.4 billion, recording an increase of 39% year on year. Moreover, Ceylinco Insurance was feted in 2011, as the People’s Insurance Company, for the sixth successive year, whilst for the third year the company bagged top honours, when it emerged the winner, in ‘The Insurance Sector’, at the National Business Excellence Awards 2011, conducted by The National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka. 2011 also saw Ceylinco Insurance receive the prestigious World Quality Commitment Award, in the Gold Category, at the World Quality Commitment Convention, at the International Quality Awards 2011, held in Paris last November.
