Businesses affected by terrorism in Kilinochchi, Mullaitivu get insurance compensation

The first phase of payment of insurance compensation for businesses and the properties which were damaged in the Districts of Kilinochchi and Mullaitivu owing to terrorist activities was initiated under the patronage of Minister of Economic Development Basil Rajapaksa on 19 November at the Randora Auditorium of the Ministry of Finance and Planning.

Rs. 67 million was granted as compensation to 30 insurance claimants of Kilinochchi and Mullaitivu Districts from the ‘Strike, Riot, Civil, Commotion, Terrorist Fund’ operated under the National Insurance Trust Fund upon the direction and guidance of Rajapaksa and Dr. P.B. Jayasundera, Secretary, Ministry of Finance and Planning, in line with the ‘Uthuru Wasanthaya’ program. Dr. Jayasundera and D. Vidanagamachchi, Chairman, National Insurance Trust Fund, and senior Treasury officials took part in this event.
