Bourse gains to 5-week high

Reuters: Stocks rose to a five-week high on Thursday as investors bought shares of large caps like Nestle Lanka PLC, while foreigners were net buyers for an eleventh straight session. The main share index rose 0.16%, or 9.18 points, to close at 5,814.80, its highest since 30 August. Shares in Nestle Lanka rose 2.63% to Rs. 1,950 a share. Foreign investors were net buyers of Rs. 79.5 million ($ 604,800) worth of shares on Thursday, extending net foreign inflows over the past 11 sessions to Rs. 1.86 billion. Foreign inflows have touched Rs. 20.49 billion so far this year. The day’s turnover was Rs. 840.7 million, below this year’s daily average of about Rs. 879 million.
