Having completed more than seven decades of existence, Bank of Ceylon (BOC) is firmly entrenched as one of the Sri Lanka’s premier financial services organisations. The Bank has introduced various loan schemes encouraging entrepreneurs.
Among them ‘Kantha Ran Diriya’ for women entrepreneurs to commence small and micro enterprises, loan scheme with a interest rate of 8% per annum for unemployed youth in the estate sector to commence or expand small scale income generating enterprises, new comprehensive rural credit scheme for individual farmers, groups or institutions to cultivate paddy and subsidiary food crops are notably important.
As an extension to this great effort of developing Sri Lankan entrepreneurs, BOC is affiliated with the Sri Lankan Entrepreneur of The Year Awards 2012 organised by the Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Sri Lanka (FCCISL) for the 17th successive year. BOC is the silver partner of the award which is the most broad-based event of recognising entrepreneurs located island wide. This award is recognised as Sri Lanka’s highest national honour to the business community, grandeur and prestigious awards unparalleled to any other national awards scheme.
Speaking at the national press launch of the award, BOC DGM Corporate and Offshore Banking Dayani Fernando stated, “We wish good luck to the Sri Lankan Entrepreneur of Year Awards, appreciate very much the efforts being taken by the FCCISL. We are glad to tie with this prestigious award for the second consecutive year and we thank FCCISL for the efforts taken to recognise the entrepreneurship in Sri Lanka.”
It is noted to elicit that at the 2010 award ceremony, the Bank of Ceylon was much appreciated by Richard Trading Co. (Pvt.) Ltd Managing Director Richard Jayatissa who is the platinum winner for the great support and the guidance extended to him by the bank.
The applications are now open (closing on 15 September) and can be obtained from the FCCISL Secretariat or from Provincial and District Chambers affiliated to FCCISL.
