Allianz Lanka recently opened its first branch in the Colombo region in Nugegoda, bringing the total network to 11.
The Nugegoda branch is strategically located in the populous township of Delkanda and provides customers in its environs with easy access to the wide range of Allianz Life and General products. The branch is headed by Nalin Amaratunga, Regional Manager, Nugegoda.
Allianz Lanka CEO Surekha Alles explained the rationale for expansion into the Colombo suburbs, stating that Allianz was pleased with its rapid growth in the rural provinces but was now changing its strategy to pursue high net worth individuals in the western province, which the local subsidiary of Munich-based financial services giant Allianz, is well placed to do.
Allianz SE is one of the world’s largest financial services providers with experience since 1890 in providing insurance, asset management and banking services to over 80 million customers in more than 70 countries.
The fully-owned local subsidiary, successfully setting up General insurance operations in Sri Lanka in 2005, has an impressive track record of achievements with many ’firsts’ in performance in this short time span.
The success of its General insurance business in Sri Lanka prompted the setting up of Life operations in Sri Lanka in October 2008, which have also recorded rapid growth, and in just two years, provided policyholders with the highest dividend declared in the local insurance industry in 2010.
