Allianz Lanka held its annual sales convention to recognise and reward high achievers who attained exceptional standards of excellence during the previous year.
The convention is Allianz Lanka’s largest and most prestigious annual event and over 350 field sales force and employees from branches islandwide were present.
Appropriately themed ‘Quality Creates Excellence 2012,’ this year’s convention took a closer look at excellence, focusing on the qualities needed to build and inspire excellence and teamwork.
K. Yoganathan of the Wattala region carried off the event’s much- coveted Champion of Champions award. Other top awards of the evening were the Allianz Best Salesperson 2011, won by Shakthivel Amalraj from the Jaffna region; the Allianz Best Field Manager’s Award 2011, awarded to Sivaneshan Suganthan from the Chunnakam region; the Allianz Best Sales person Non Life Award 2011, won by Dilup Wimalatunga from the Kurunegala region.
Risiwara Rodrigo was the winner of the Directors Award 2011 presented for the first time this year to Allianz Lanka’s Best Employee. Gold and silver awards in different categories were also awarded for performance par excellence in Life and Non-life insurance sales. Although the awards ceremony, when first inaugurated three years ago, recognized the performance of the Life sales team only and as of last year recognised Non- life high achievers, this year’s awards took a much broader view, being extended substantially to recognise all staff excelling in both insurance and non-insurance business. Allianz Life Insurance Lanka’s Head of Sales and Marketing, Sandamal Hettiarachchi, in his welcome address, declared that the company had, within a short time span, set new industry records, introduced new business processes and a completely new sales discipline to the local insurance industry. He expressed confidence that, in the not so distant future, the company’s sales tem would have the highest earning power in the industry.
Allianz SE’s Executive Vice President Heinz Dollberg graced the glittering event as chief guest. In his address, Dollberg commended Allianz Lanka for its profitability over the past years and advised its agent that they must concentrate on both business lines, both Life and Non-life if the company is to maintain its high performance into the future. In her address Allianz Lanka CEO Surekha Alles traced the growth of the company since its inception seven years earlier affirming:
“We have come a long way. These years have been very challenging but very successful for Allianz Lanka nevertheless. Now we are fully rooted and accepted as a trusted partner by all our stakeholders.” She outlined the company’s many achievements during this brief time span and advised her staff that, despite the pressure to excel, they should follow ethical practices at all times. The occasion was made memorable and personal with tributes of appreciation paid by the Allianz Lanka family to its senior management, for their leadership in steering the company to its present success.
The qualities of excellence recognized at the sales convention are not just the core values of salesmanship but are also the cornerstones on which Allianz built its reputation of over a century. As a world leader in insurance and financial services and a skilled global player, yet an experienced and innovative local partner, the pursuit of excellence has been the rationale behind the many world records and industry firsts attained by Allianz over the years.
As its youngest subsidiary Allianz Lanka, too, is proud to follow in the footsteps of its august parent, having established industry records and set industry benchmarks within the short time span of just seven years in Sri Lanka.
