Standard Chartered appoints Yohan Samarakkody as Country Chief Risk Officer and Head of Operational Risk

Standard Chartered has announced the appointment of Yohan Samarakkody as Country Chief Risk Officer (CCRO) and Head of Operational Risk for Sri Lanka, effective 1 March.

Yohan counts for over 15 years of experience in Corporate Finance, Equity Research and Banking. In his previous roles prior to joining Standard Chartered, he was instrumental in setting up a Corporate Finance department as well as an Equity Research unit in the local market. Prior to taking up his new role as CCRO, Yohan was a part of Standard Chartered Sri Lanka’s Risk function as Senior Credit Manager for Local and International Corporates.

Welcoming the appointment, Standard Chartered Sri Lanka CEO Bingumal Thewarathanthri said, “With Yohan’s extensive experience in the Banking, Corporate Finance and Equity Research work disciplines, we are certain that he will add value to our operations, and we look forward to working closely with him in the years to come. We also welcome Yohan to the Country Management Team and are pleased to recognise the upward growth of our internal talent within the bank’s Risk function.”

Yohan Samarakkody holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management (External) from the University of Kelaniya. He is an ACMA (UK) and holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Investment Analysis from ICFAI University, Dehradun, India and an M.A. in Financial Economics from the University of Colombo.
