Two subsidiaries of Singer (Sri Lanka) PLC were recognised with Gold and Silver Awards at the recently concluded 53rd Annual Report Awards. This annual event organised by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka focuses on recognising excellence in annual reporting. This year, 140 organisations from community groups to blue chip companies and conglomerates competed under several sectors.
Singer Finance (Lanka) PLC was adjudged the Gold Winner under the category ‘Finance and Leasing Companies – total assets up to Rs. 20 billion’ at the recently concluded 53rd Annual Report Awards.
Singer Finance (Lanka) PLC is a wholly owned subsidiary of Singer (Sri Lanka) PLC. Chief Executive Officer of Singer Finance (Lanka) PLC R.S. Wijeweera expressing his views on this achievement said, “As a company which values transparency and accountability, this award recognises our commitment in the spheres of good governance and financial reporting.”
Commenting on this achievement Singer Finance (Lanka) PLC Chief Operating Officer Thushan Amarasuriya highlighted, “This award is a reflection of the dedication, commitment and passion for excellence demonstrated by the entire team towards the progress and performance of the Company. We are delighted to have been recognised with the Gold Award in a very competitive sector.”
The 2016/17 Annual report of Singer Finance PLC was presented under the theme ‘Gaining the Edge’. The company’s headquarters is located at No 80, Nawam Mawatha, Colombo 2 and it has a presence island wide with 24 branches, 2 service centres and 18 mega service centres. The company is the first non-banking financial institution to introduce a credit card.
Regnis Lanka PLC was awarded the Silver award under the category manufacturing companies with turnover up to Rs. 5 billion. Regnis Lanka PLC manufactures refrigerators, washing machines under ‘Singer’ and ‘Sisil’ brands. Regnis Lanka PLC Factory Director Kelum Kospelawatte commenting on this achievement said, “The success of our company is our people who are driven by the dedication and a passion for excellence in delivering world class products and solutions. This award is a testament for our commitment in delivering value at every level.”
Eraj Fernando, Factory Controller and Secretary to the Board elaborated on the award, “Our company has over the years focused on good governance and accountability. Being recognised in a competitive category of manufacturing companies is certainly encouraging for all of us at Regnis Lanka PLC.”
The theme of the Annual Report 2016 “Crowning our Success” focused on the company being recognised among the prestigious Forbes Asia’s “200 Best under a Billion 2016” list.
The Annual Reports of both companies were conceptualised and designed by REDWORKS – subsidiary of Ogilvy Group of Companies Sri Lanka. Commenting on this success Director Business of Redworks Ishani Jayasinghe highlighted, “We are indeed happy to witness these achievements.
