The fresh trading week commenced on a sluggish note as activity in the secondary bond market dried up yesterday, with most market participants seen on the sidelines. A trade was witnessed on the 01.07.28 maturity at 7.05%.
In secondary bills, 23 October and 18 December 2020 maturities changed hands at levels of 4.52% and 4.55% respectively, in limited trade.
The total secondary market Treasury bond/bill transacted volumes for 11 September was Rs. 28.57 billion.
In the money market yesterday, the weighted average rates on overnight call money and Repos remained mostly unchanged at 4.52% and 4.53% respectively as the overnight surplus liquidity was registered at Rs.181 .45 billion.
LKR appreciates
In the Forex market, USD/LKR rate on spot contracts was seen appreciating yesterday to hit an intraday high of Rs. 184.10 before closing the day at a level of Rs. 184.20/40 against its previous day’s closing levels of Rs. 184.45/55.
The total USD/LKR traded volume for 11 September was $ 95.76 million.
